Love-Friendship-Sexuality
Mrs Egbe Sarah Tabi, an Epidemiologist working at “Medecin Sans Frontières” expresses herself on convictions on Love, Friendship and Sexuality.
What is the meaning of Love?
Love is one of the most profound emotions we experience as humans. It’s bigger than us, meaning that though we can invite it into our lives, we do not have the control over the how, when and where love starts to express itself. The tricky thing about Love is that we can feel it in a variety of different states when we are happy, sad, angry, confused or excited. We even use love as an action, as a force to keep our relationships with partners or friends and family together. That is why love ranges from Storage love, Philia love, Eros love, Agape love, Ludus love, Pragma love and Philautia love. These types of love can lead to friendship and sexuality.
About Friendship?
The true meaning of friendship is when you consider the other person’s wellbeing to be as valuable as your own. If you consider that another person’s good is as your own, you will treat them the way friends are supposed to treat each other being a friend in need and a friend in deed. Friendship involves two critical dimensions which are inter-dependence and voluntary participation. Friendship require admiration, respect, trust and emotional and instrumental support.
Love-friendship and sexuality?
Sexuality is the way people experience and express themselves sexually. This involves biological, erotic, or spiritual feelings and behaviors. Someone’s sexual orientation can influence that person’s sexual interest and attraction for another person. Physical and emotional aspects of sexuality include bonds between individuals that are expressed through profound feelings or physical manifestations of love, trust and care. Therefore there is a profound conviction between Love, friendship and sexuality. They are inter-related terms and can greatly influence one another but the greatest of it all is love.
