TikTok App rating down from 4 to 1 star on Google Play store in India

A video of a woman being poured acid went viral in the country, causing users to down rate the application.

The unacceptable content was created by user called Faizal Siddiqui, who has more than 13 million followers on TikTok. In the video, Faizal says "Did the man you left me for abandon you?" and after that he takes a glass filled with liquid and splashes it on his 'girlfriend'. By the end of the video, the woman's face changes with make-up depicting scars one gets after an "acid attack".

Considered to be encouraging the use of acid on women, over the past few days users of TikTok in India downgraded the app from 4 to 1 star on Google Play to express their outburst.

This development has forced the company to take strict action against the user and the content shared, BGR In reported. "Over the last few days, we have acted on several pieces of content that violated our policies. We have taken actions including taking down the content, suspending the account of the concerned users, and/or are working with law enforcement agencies, as appropriate," TikTok said through this tweet.

TikTok with over 600 million users in the country, was banned in the country not long ago. New incidents like these could force the government to take action once again. The reports about 1-star rating puts a bad impression on the app.

Not long ago, an 18 years old user of the application allegedly took away his life after falling into depression because a content he created did not get enough likes according to him. With such incidents, the government could be forced to put a ban on the app if things are not handled with caution.

Disney's head of streaming Kevin Mayer quit the company and joined TikTok as its CEO this June and also became COO at TikTok's parent company ByteDance. He will oversee public affairs, security, moderation, which is a crucial need for TikTok now.
