DAPHNE: “I have lived with and taken care of an HIV patient”

1- Can you talk a bit more about you, who is Daphne?
My names are Daphne Njie EFUNDEM.I am simple in disposition and fierce in action. My ambition and courage are me driving forces towards achieving my goals. I am GOD fearing and love kids. Though i am usually timid, I am friend's to everybody. I bring a melange of a message a love and peace and Entertainment and originality to the world.

2- Why have you chosen to sing reggae?
I love reggae but I don't sing only reggae. I chose to translate some particular songs in reggae because it is a very expressive and somewhat spiritual genre of music.

3- Was it easy to do it as a woman?
It has not being easy as a woman in the music business and singing reggae has not been easy as well. So many people misunderstand me and my music. For example I have to tell people all the times that I don't smoke weed as that's the general notion that goes with singing reggae.

4- Talking about your album how many songs you have inside? The rhythms inside, the featuring? The theme you talk about inside?
My album will be made up of at most 12 tracks and at least 8 tracks with rhythms that cut across quite a number of genres and some collaboration. My songs have a holistic y of ideas and themes because each of my songs come with a familiar but new idea.

5- Talking about Buea how do you manage the promotion between there and Yaoundé and Douala?
Promotion is mostly taken care of by my team STEVEN'S MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT.I do my part, which is to make the music and the rest is being taken care of by the team.

6- After “Rastafari” what’s next?
While we are still promoting the Reflection mini album on iTunes which Rastafari is part of, we plan on releasing a few other videos, speaking of which, we are releasing my second video on the 3rd of May 2015 and subsequently the full album by the end of the year.

7- Have you ever seen or leave with an HIV infected person? If yes how was it?
I have lived with and taken care of an HIV patient. I was quite romanticizing for me because I saw the pain and suffering she was in and it made my heart bleed every time she cried out.

8- What can you say about discrimination and stigmatization against HIV persons?
To me, it is but stupid to stigmatize an HIV patient because on the contrary at that point they need more love and affection to keep fighting. That brings us back to lessons of love. Did you know that a little show of affection on such a patient could increase his/her life span? It can, because it gives the patient the desire to fight for life.

9- What about concerts, agenda, tours?
I have had a couple of shows in the country and have been booked for a few come May. We are anticipating tours around the world (hihi) as I move further in music and possible concerts as we release albums.

10- A word for your fans and young people?
To my fans, I say a big 'Thank you' for your support and love. You can always count on me for music when you are down. Believe in God, work for your dreams and stay true to yourself.
