AFCON Preparations: 32 players called to begin camping

Christian Bassogog amongst other prominent names are absent from the 32-man squad that will converge in the Netherlands to begin training from the 5th to the 13th of October 2020. The list was made known to the public via a press conference on Monday September 14th by the head coach of the indomitable lions Antonio Conceicao Olivera.

The list made up of 4 goal keepers, 8 midfielders, 10 defenders and 10 attackers, has seen the call up of Njie Cllinton since the reign of Antonio Conceicao, while ace players like 2017 best player Christian Bassogog, Allan Nyom, Fabrice Olinga, Stephane Bahoken, John Mary, Gaetan Bong were not called up on the list.

Worth noting is the fact that no home-based player has been called up by the Portuguese gaffer.

During this camping, the indomitable lions will play two major friendlies pitting Japan and Algeria.  Cameroon has played 5 times against japan from 2001 to 2010; drew twice and lost thrice wining 0 times. On like with Algeria with whom they have knock horns 9 times between 1984 to 2017, wining 6 times, drawing 2 times and loosing just 1 time.

Fingers are crossed as football lovers and indomitable lion’s supporters hope the Portuguese talisman find the perfect equation to crack down this Japanese team that has been a veritable “casse-tête” to the national team.
